Serving Children and Families in Stafford and Surrounding Towns

Early Hard Start (EHS) provides high-quality, early childhood programming for families and children, prenatal to age three (3). The program is FREE and offers a school-readiness curriculum in conjunction with medical, dental, nutritional and social service supports. EastCONN administers the Early Head Start program in Stafford in collaboration with Stafford Public Schools.
 

Is My Child Eligible to Participate?

All expectant mothers and parents who have children up to age three are encouraged to apply. You or your child are automatically eligible if:

Federal Definition of Homeless

(1) Individual or family who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate. nighttime residence, meaning:

(i) Has a primary nighttime residence that is a public or. private place not meant for human habitation;

(ii) Is living in a publicly or privately operated shelter.

Services May Include:
  • Weekly scheduled home visits that focus on your child's educational development and support positive parent /child relationships
  • Opportunities for socialization with the other enrolled families that support your child's play in a weekly group setting
  • Professional guidance on parenting strategies
  • Support with accessing medical and dental care
  • A newborn baby well-child visit by a health professional
