Heat Advisory-June 10th-11th 2026
Hello Stafford Community
A heat advisory remains in effect for our area through Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. As a result, we are continuing to closely monitor conditions across all school buildings and taking appropriate measures to ensure the health, safety, and comfort of our students and staff.
Students should continue to dress appropriately for warm weather and bring a water bottle to school each day. We are significantly limiting outdoor activities and adjusting schedules as needed to reduce exposure to the heat.
Our Director of Facilities utilizes a sophisticated building management system that continuously monitors air conditioning performance and room temperatures throughout the district. These conditions are reviewed regularly throughout the day so that we can respond quickly to any concerns.
While most instructional spaces across the district are air-conditioned, Stafford Middle School does not have air conditioning throughout all classroom areas. Principal Kinel has implemented plans to rotate classes into cooler locations as needed. Additionally, with one entire grade level on a field trip tomorrow, additional instructional spaces are available to support these adjustments.
At this time, all schools will remain open for full days on both Thursday and Friday. Current forecasts indicate that temperatures will return to more seasonal conditions next week.
I understand that some parents may disagree with the decision to remain open, and I respect those perspectives. If you choose to keep your child home due to the heat, the absence will be excused. We simply ask that you notify your child's school following the normal attendance procedures.
Thank you for your partnership, flexibility, and support as we navigate this period of extreme weather.
PLEASE NOTE-if anything changes to our systems that impact temperatures, we will make the appropriate decision at that time
